Our Story

Robert and Helen Aspden started making Artisan Ice Cream in 2008 on the Butterton's farm in Cheshire. Robert had been in dairy farming all of his life with the Brown Swiss Cows. Looking to diversify and use the deliciously creamy milk from the Brown Swiss Cows, Robert began his journey to make the finest real dairy ice cream.  Considerable time was invested in sourcing the best ingredients from suppliers that also followed organic principles, creating an ice cream which was the best it could possibly be.

Over 10 years later, Butterton’s Ice Cream and sorbet is sold through various retailers, at events and direct from the farm. High quality local restaurants also use Butterton’s for not only their main range of flavours, but for bespoke ice cream and sorbets which are created by Robert and the Chef to complement certain dishes on their menu’s.
